American Civilizations

Plains Indians Today
Bisons were and still are a very important part of the Plains Indians' diet. They follow the bison as hides for clothing and a source of food and hides for their homes just like they did in ancient times. However, the Plains Indians have developed and are more modern now, and many industries and businesses have settled in many of their sites today. They are not as nomadic anymore as they were hundreds of years ago. The Plains Indians do not have a diet based solely on bison meat; they eat other varieties of foods. However, as in ancient times, the Plains Indians do trade with other Indian civilizations.
